The Norwegian authorities have invited oil and gas companies to nominate areas in frontier areas for the country’s 26th licensing round, one day after the incumbent AP (Labour Party) won a narrow victory in the national election.

In a brief statement, the Norwegian Offshore Directorate invited companies active on the Norwegian continental shelf to nominate blocks by 1 October.
large potentially available areas in the eastern Barents Sea, in the west of the Norwegian Sea, and in shallow water areas in the North Sea.

The numbered licensing rounds are being reintroduced following a pause of several years.
