The former French-owned TotalEnergies gas stations have been acquired by the local Coris Invest Group and rebranded under the new national identity Barka Energies. The rebrand was officially launched in early December 2025.
This acquisition includes the retail network of nearly 200 service stations, fuel depots, and logistics assets, placing key parts of the fuel sector under domestic control. The move is viewed by many as a significant step toward economic sovereignty for Burkina Faso, ensuring that profits remain within the country.
