Equinor has extended the contract for the Deepsea Bollsta semi-submersible rig for work on the Johan Sverdrup field, a major Norwegian offshore development. This new, firm contract is for two years, with five one-year options, and is valued at approximately $335 million. The rig is expected to begin its work on the Norwegian continental shelf in the latter part of 2025.

The Deepsea Bollsta rig previously worked on projects in Africa and has a history of operations in Norway.
Equinor has a goal to maintain high production from the Norwegian continental shelf and sees continuous drilling as key to this objective.
