Russia’s energy company NOVATEK is planning to build a new processing complex and terminal in the Murmansk Region to handle stable gas condensate, processing it into commercial products such as naphtha, kerosene, marine fuel, and gasoil. This project is separate but complementary to the larger Murmansk LNG terminal project.
Key details of the gas condensate project:
The facility is designed to process up to 3 million tonnes of stable gas condensate annually.
It will produce light and heavy naphtha, kerosene (jet fuel), marine fuel, and gasoil.
The complex will be located in the Kolsky district of the Murmansk region, with a dedicated shipping terminal at the Port of Murmansk.
Construction is expected to begin in June 2025, with completion targeted by the end of May 2028.
While the general Murmansk LNG project has received government support and approval for its parameters, recent reports from April 2025 indicate Novatek’s specific plans for this separate condensate facility are moving forward, likely to process byproducts from projects like Arctic LNG 2, which has faced sanctions.
NOVATEK already operates a similar gas condensate processing complex at the Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga.
