Petronas and Chevron have recently become operators of Blocks 9 and 10 in Suriname, respectively, as part of new production-sharing contracts signed with the state oil company Staatsolie.
Block 9: Operated by Petronas (30% interest), with partners Chevron (20%), QatarEnergy (20%), and Staatsolie affiliate Paradise Oil Company (POC) (30%).
Block 10: Operated by Chevron (30% interest), with partners Petronas (30%), QatarEnergy (30%), and POC (10%).
These additions expand their existing acreage in Suriname’s offshore region, where other major international oil companies such as TotalEnergies, Shell, and PetroChina International are already active. The agreements reflect growing investor confidence in Suriname’s potential, with the Block 58 project already sanctioned and multiple exploration and appraisal campaigns underway.
