Nigeria LNG (NLNG), through its shipping subsidiary Bonny Gas Transport (BGT), has ordered three new 174,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding. The contract, valued at approximately US$744 million, also includes options for three additional vessels.
The Shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). Vessel Type & Three firm orders for 174,000 cubic meter LNG carriers, with options for a potential three more.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery sequentially to BGT before the end of 2029.
The firm order for the three vessels is valued at around US$744 million.
Equipped with GTT membrane type LNG cargo tanks.
Features a dual-fuel diesel engine fitted with an intelligent control by exhaust recycling (ICER) system to reduce methane slip and greenhouse gas emissions.
The Dimensions , 299 meters in length, 46.4 meters in beam, and 26.25 meters in depth.
This order is part of NLNG’s long-term fleet modernization and renewal strategy, aiming to diversify its shipping portfolio and reduce its environmental footprint. The new vessels will complement NLNG’s existing fleet and support its operations, including potential future needs related to its Train 7 expansion project on Bonny Island, which will increase the plant’s total production capacity.
