Guyana’s oil sector has reached significant new milestones as of early 2026, solidifying its position as the world’s largest oil producer per capita.
Daily production from the offshore Stabroek Block surpassed 915,000 barrels per day (bpd) in January 2026, up from approximately 892,000 bpd in late 2025.
The ExxonMobil-led consortium has committed more than US$60 billion across seven government-sanctioned projects to date.
Four offshore projects are currently online—Liza Phase 1, Liza Phase 2, Payara, and Yellowtail (which started in August 2025).
The following projects are part of the seven currently approved developments in the Stabroek Block:
Daily Capacity (approx.)
Uaru 2026 250,000 bpd
Whiptail 2027 250,000 bpd
Hammerhead 2029 150,000 bpd
Total output is projected to exceed 1.3 million bpd by 2027 and reach between 1.7 and 2 million bpd by 2030 if an eighth proposed project, Longtail, is approved.
This growth has driven real GDP expansion, with rates averaging roughly 47% per year since 2022. The country’s Natural Resource Fund has received over US$7.8 billion since production began in 2019.
