ExxonMobil is stepping up its deepwater operations in Nigeria, deploying an ultra-deepwater drillship for the Usan Infill Project, which is expected to add up to 40,000 barrels per day to production.
The roughly $1 billion project will target additional reserves around the existing Usan field and is designed to leverage existing infrastructure, helping accelerate production while keeping development costs lower.
The project highlights renewed investment in Nigeria’s deepwater oil sector and ExxonMobil’s efforts to boost output from existing assets.
