On October 9, 2025, Aramco finalized the acquisition of an additional 22.5% stake in Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co. (Petro Rabigh) from Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical for $702 million. This increases Aramco’s ownership to 60%, making it the largest shareholder.
Aramco had delayed three chemicals expansion projects as it prioritized other investments, especially in integrated refining and petrochemical projects near demand centers in China and South Korea.
In September 2025, Aramco announced it plans to execute 85 projects over the next three years. The projects, which will require a significant procurement drive, include:
20 oil, gas, and petrochemical projects, including upgrades and two major new petrochemical complexes. 6 offshore projects for expanding or upgrading platforms. 12 pipeline projects to upgrade and replace trunklines. 53 infrastructure projects for civil, marine, and other developments.
