Eni has made a significant new gas and condensate discovery offshore Egypt as of April 2026.
The discovery was made at the Denise W-1 exploration well in the Temsah Concession.
The Temsah Concession is situated in the Eastern Mediterranean, about 70 km offshore in 95 meters of water depth.
Preliminary estimates indicate a significant find of approximately 2 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas initially in place (GIIP) and 130 million barrels of associated condensates.
The find is less than 10 km from existing infrastructure, which allows for a fast-track development to bring the field into production quickly.
Eni operates the lease with a 50% working interest, with BP holding the remaining 50%.
The drilling of Denise W-1 follows a 20-year renewal of the Temsah Concession agreed in July 2025.
This discovery supports Egypt’s goal to boost natural gas production following a decline in output from the Zohr field.
This discovery reinforces Eni’s strong presence in Egypt, where it has been active since 1954 and is the largest hydrocarbon producer, with an equity production of 242,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) in 2025
