Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), in partnership with Sunlink Energies and Resources Limited, has taken the final investment decision (FID) on the HI gas project located offshore Nigeria. This major development represents an investment of approximately $2 billion.
The project is designed to deliver 350 million standard cubic feet of gas per day at its peak to Nigeria LNG (NLNG) for export globally.
The HI field is situated about 50 kilometers offshore Nigeria in OML 144, at a water depth of 100 meters.
Sunlink Energies and Resources Limited holds a 60% stake in the joint venture, while SNEPCo holds 40%. The project involves a new wellhead platform with four wells, a pipeline to transport gas and condensate to Bonny, and a gas processing plant there. First production is anticipated before the close of this decade. Recoverable resources are estimated at 285 million barrels of oil equivalent.
The gas from the HI project is intended to support the expansion of the NLNG facility through its Train 7 project on Bonny Island. This initiative supports Shell’s goal of increasing its global LNG volumes and its involvement in Nigeria’s energy industry.
